The solution's size is determined by what you need to be powered during an outage. We distinguish between essential loads (lights, security systems, refrigerators, freezers, televisions, internet routers, and so on) and non-essential, power-intensive loads like water heaters, cookers, air conditioners, and pumps. The peak power requirements are calculated by adding all of the necessary loads that must operate at the same time during a power outage. This total must be less than the backup system's power rating.
